A Mountain That Represents Father-in-Law - Taian

Tai Shan (泰山), the most majestic mountain in China, basically is a rocky mountain but combination of ranges, ridges and peaks make it look majestic and splendor. It was highly respected , and worshiped almost like God as it was the first mountain in China where Emperors made the heaven and earth sacrifices ceremony. Tai Shan , the name of this sacred mountain range, also means father of one's wife (father-in-law). He is as great, not to be violated but to be respected. It was first used by the emperor and till today, most Chinese understand this second meaning。

Cable car service available only till half way of the mountain. There is also man-made stone track for those who wish to hike up from the foot till peak but trained and experienced companions required as it takes hours to complete the whole distance.

Striped black marble along the ranges are rare and precious stone on earth. Valuable greenish-black crystal which hardly found at other places also obtainable within the areas.

The splendid mountain sights.

China has five sacred mountains and Tai Shan (泰山) representing east mountain is the most reputable. The other four mountains are Hua Shan (华山) of Shenxi in the west, Heng Shan (恒山) of Hepei in the north, Hen Shan (衡山) of Hunan in the south, and Song Shan (嵩山) of Henan at center.

Color marble stone and stone fish which can be used for whistling are special products of Tai Mountain. The souvenir most tourists would like to bring back was a piece of Tai Stone that engraved with names or figuring which have power to frighten away devils and evils. It was called shi gan dang (石敢当).

The main attraction at the halfway stand when stepping up the Tai Shan Temples, are rows of mini shops with typical traditional structure, colors and signboards.

To feel the force and strength of Mt Tai was to standing straight in front of this Heaven Street arch gate.

Tai Shan, a centre for Taoism, carried with it historical background of Chinese religion. Inside this great lofty vigorous Tai Mountain, human become vague and tiny. Many traditional temples and related buildings of Taoism were built at the peak area of more than 1500 m high where in the past, one could oversee Yellow Sea at far east. To defeat these hundreds of stone stair for distant broad view required effort and stamina.

Rock formation is beautiful but to have group of temples built at such height is beyond our imagination. People of olden days were great and certainly tough and for sure very devoted to their religion.

The highest point of the temple.

I made it!

Human labor was necessary here!

The majestic rocky mountain of Tai Shan (泰山) is considered as the lead of the five sacred mountains in China.

The beautiful rocky mountain wall!

Bright red apple cherry flowers, pink peach flowers, white plum flowers, yellow jasmine flowers gay bustling at mountain slopes, cheer up the spirit of each and every guest.
