Boating on A Tamed Yellow River - Laoniuwan

Huanghe measured 5464 km in length is the 2nd longest river in China and runs in the 6th position worldwide. Originated in Bayan Har Mountains in Qinghai, Yellow River is The Cradle of Chinese Civilization. It loops from Qinghai to Gangsu, from Inner Mongolia to Shanxi, finding its way through mountains across North China Plain. Beneath the Ordos Region where Huanghe crosses over in Inner Mongolia, Ming Dynasty's Great Wall was built cutting across the center and separating the nomadic north from agricultural southern area. The three bays formed under the condition offer incredible scenic sights surrounded the two China's greatest symbols.

Laoniu-wan, the former Ming military garrison has turned into a living village for local inhabitants and is now developing into an touristic attraction.

At this phase, water of Yellow River is crystal clear glaring in green or emerald color.

From far distance, the earthen remains of Great wall that curls along the cliffs at the bank of Yellow River on the loess soil plateau, had merged into the environment as one body. Great Wall of Ming Dynasty was believed to use the same kind of earthen material sharing common color and texture of what presently exist at site.

It is the site where a man-made marvel Great Wall intersects with natural Huanghe River.

Rocky ridges of Inner Mongolia.

A memorable cruising on the tranquil water of Yellow River flowing over its two banks with extraordinary exuberant soils and rocks formation.

Over the bank, there are some ancient cave dwellings on the precipices, very well preserved.

Magnificent scenery.

The rare beauty of Yellow River.

Watch towers of Great Wall could be vividly noticed from far.

Wonderful sight of Vast Yellow River.

Surprisingly, there isn't any man made rubbish along this stretch of Yellow River. It seems like the site was well protected from pollution.

Remarkable landscape along the flow of Yellow River from Inner Mongolia towards north west then east and finally turning to south to Shanxi and Shaanxi.

The flow of Yellow River is exactly like the pace of life in Laoniu-wan, calm and steady.

Bay of Laoniu-wan has an interesting legend relating to Yellow River. It was said that the canal was excavated by an heavenly old ox to channel the flooding water. The two holes appeared at the rocky wall in Inner Mongolia were the two large eyes of the ox, the jutting terrains on the other side of the bay are its head and tongue.

Steep cliffs and precipices in line at both sides of Yellow River.

We were truly impressed with the emerald grassy water of Yellow River.

Unique rock figurine formation.

A contented and happy native.
