The city, once named as Ziyangshen, is nested away in hilly landscape at the edge of Western Zhejiang and Southern Province. This remote county produced many nation's richest merchants and was home to some of the China's top scholars, like Zhuxi, a Confucian master in Southern Song Dynasty (1127-1279) and Zhan Tian You, The China first railway engineer. Jiangwan is the homeland for Chinese former President, Mr Ziang Zheming.
