Marine Culture in Chengwu Village - Xiapu,Fujian

In Xiapu, there are many places like Chengwu Village (埕坞), simple and crude, yet offers an unique coastal scenery with its marine culture. We paid 250 Rmb for a local photographing expert to specially drive us to Changcun County at Ningde region in Fujian to have a half day tour for its awe inspiring sight and the unusual life style. Village is winded up by rocky hills with one side facing the vast ocean, and as Chinese old saying "living near sea earn living from sea", majority of the natives are engaged in marine industries. They spend long hours working hard at the lodging site built floating on the surface of water, far out into the sea. Life is tough but rebate from breeding and farming wide varieties of expensive sea products like sea cucumber, abalone, shrimps and fish etc, sustain them a good living.

Underneath the silky water surface are the breeding beds for yellow croaker fish, sea cucumber, abalone etc., which are part of the 32million tons marine products distributed out from Fujian every year.

Geographical position and natural resources make ecological aquaculture a great success in the region.

Mass of ramshackle floating wooden houses cover almost the entire sea bay.

The plankton rich river and coastal deltas create excellent farming conditions for Chengwu's aqua agriculture industries.

Million dollars of tons of marine produces are transported to market by these little sea barges.

Chengwu's marine farming site at dusk.

Images of floating houses, that linked one to each other, are incredible sight.

Standing high at a hill top, lines of photographers are waiting for an exciting moment of nature wonder acting on the village and its marine farming site.

This is the sky and weather that many photographers are looking forward to. We are rather lucky to strike it at the first day visit..

Color of magic begins ...

The stunning sunset at Chengwu Village.

The sun dismissed, leaving behind last drop of its blue to the site.
