Gypsies on Sea - Yantian, Xiapu

Yantian is an autonomous village of "She" minority. The ethnic live in boats and making living by fishing and collecting marine products around the sea bay. The history of such sea settlement and living habit dated back to thousand years ago. It was said that sea gypsies are offspring of people who flee here to escape from war chaos  in Tang Dynasty.  Centuries by centuries, generations by generations, they spent every hour of their life time including birth and death on water,  not allowed to come on shore or intermarry with people living on shore, until customs changed lately.   Boats are home and the only activity space to as many as 7000 people in the recent past.
